Djibouti: Places To Visit

Originally home to nomadic tribes, Djibouti was eventually colonized by the French and became French Somalialand.  The country guards the entrance to the Red Sea and so maintains a high French and military presence.

Djibouti is a late 19th century city with a strong Arab influence.  The central market is a lively place to visit.

The tropical aquarium, displays fish and sea life from the Red Sea.  Diving is good at Gulf of Tadjoura.  Other watersports can be organised.

Beaches are good at Dolare and Ghoubet al Kharab.

Wildlife is best at lake Abbe, bird watching is also good here.
