Lesotho: Places To Visit

Maseru

Lesothos capital.  Not a reason for visiting the country but you will probably pass through and there are a few sights worth seeing:

Kings Palace: has beautiful architecture
Prime Ministers residence

Near Maseru:

Ha Khotso Bushmen Rock Paintings
Thaba Bosiu: considered the birthplace of the Basoho people, it is a stepp flat topped mountain, which Moshoeshoe used to protect the Basotho people around 1824.

Mohales Hoek

A small town in the southern paert of the counttry.  Nearby you can see dinosaur footprints, and there are some good walks and views.

Pony Trekking

One of the primary reasons for visiting lesotho is pony trekking n the traditional Basotho ponies.  Malealea is one of the main centres for this.  A south african owned initiative, the compnay work very closely with the local people. All guides are locals. You can trek for an hour to a beautiul waterfall, or head out on 4 dy treks combining riding and walking and staying in traditional villages with the local people.

Sani Pass

This is the southern entry point into the country, a 4 x 4 only road headin up the Drakensberg Mountains from South Africa. The views are stunning, and it is home to the highest pub in the world.
