By Air

The National airline is Air Burundi and the national airport is Bujumbura International (BJM).  Taxis run from the airport to the city, approximately 11km (7 miles) away.

By Water

Ferries (both passenger and cargo) run from Tanzania to Zambia, stopping at Bujumbura.

By Road

Roads from the democratic republic of congo are in Good condition. Roads from Tanzania are in poor condition.  There are reasonable roads from Rwanda, but you are liable to hijacking and ambushes, so travel is not advisable.Unless you are able to join a UN convoy.

By Road

Driving is on the right, there are no international car rental services at present.  Truck taxis operate between towns and are cheap and usually overcrowded.
