is located in the Upper Austrai section of the Salzkammergut, the Austrian Lake district. It is a spa town which was the summer residence of Emperor Franz Josef. The world war II concentration camp, Dachau was also located here.

situated in Upper Austria, this is the home of the Kremsmuenster Abbey, which is home to the moastry containing over 16,000 boooks and manuscripts in its library. Plus the observation tower which is the oldest geomagnetism station in the world.

Nordico - Museum of the City of Linz: The original monastery house, later Collegium Nordico, was built in 1608, and is used as civic museum since 1973. The alternating exhibitions focus on selected periods of the history of the city, including archeology and regional art.
LinzGenesis - City History in Fast Motion: The branch of Nordico in the Old City Hall offers ideal basic information about the history of Linz, from prehistoric times to the communal projects of the present.
Museum of the History of Dentistry in Upper Austria: The visitor sees how dentistry has changed since the 17th century, considering numerous devices and tools, starting from a simple barber-stool to the first dental drills operated by foot as well as the first fluoroscope. Upper Austrian Literature Museum: Adalbert Stifter, lived in Linz for many years. His former house was redesigned and houses the Upper Austrian literature museum on the second floor, it has over 17,000 books and manuscripts.
Ars Electronica Center: The Ars Electronica will be the heart of the European Capital of Culture Linz in 2009. The Museum of the Future offers space on five floors for fascinating views at digital computer worlds and latest technologies and media. The specialty: the visitors are interactively integrated, and they can experiment actively without restrictions. The museum provides trainers that guide you through the museum. In Europe’s only public cave you get on a fantastic journey through three-dimensional worlds. OK Center for Contemporary Art
: is an experimental laboratory for young art. It sees itself as an exhibition and production house for contemporary art, accompanying the implementation of an artistic work from the idea to its exhibition.
Historical Customs and Finance Collection: Uniforms, weapons, equipments such as typewriters, calculating machines, office signs, files, laws, seals and stamps were part of a customs officer’s working day in former times. Also the ‚black’ side of the customs collection is shown: confiscated smuggled goods.
Military History Collection - EbelsbergCastle: An exhibition of historic firearms (pistols, revolver, rifles, submachine guns, machine guns) from the 18th to the 20th century.
