Neusidler See

A great area for cycling there is a cycle path around the lake which is about 100 km in length and along the southern part actually passes into Hungary.

The see has large areas of reed beds, the lake itself is only about 2m deep, and has no incoming water.  It also has a high saline content.  the area is much visited by ornithologists.  Prominenet birds include storks, great white egret, spoonbills and avocets.  the great bustard Europe's heaviest bird is also to be found in the area.

Windsurfing is very poular, especialy in summer when due to the shallowness of the lake the ater warms up.

Kammermusikfest

established by the Latvian-born violinist Gidon Kremer in 1981, and held annually in late June/early July.
